RayLite expanded polystyrene insulation meets today's need for more
efficient methods to conserve energy. It is the logical insulation choice for
residential, commercial and industrial applications because it provides the
highest R-value at the lowest cost.
RayLite is manufactured from an expanded polystyrene base material plus a
flame retardant additive. When expanded by heat, it produces a closed cell,
resilient, lightweight foam plastic with a density range between 1.0 - 3.0
pounds per cubic foot (pcf) for most construction applications.
After molding, the cured billets are cut into slabs, sheets or other shapes,
in a range of densities to yield the necessary properties to meet the highest
insulation specifications at the lowest cost. RayLite (1.0 pcf) provides a
typical R-value of 3.85 per inch (R-factor + 0.26) at a mean temperature of 75F
(R = 4.17 per inch at 40F).
Because of its cellular structure, the R-value of RayLite is permanent. It
will operate efficiently for the life of the building.
RayLite is a great moisture-resistant insulation too. Because it
"breathes", no costly venting is needed to prevent moisture within the
walls. Even when force-saturated to 10 times its dry weight with moisture,
expanded polystyrene retains 80% of its original R-value.
RayLite also resists severe temperature changes, and is unaffected by
natural elements.
RayLite expanded polystyrene is an example of high technology meeting the
challenge of our energy-conscious environment.
RayLite Brand is the trusted, proven insulation that is consistently
